This year the Belvidere FFA Chapter continued its participation in a community service event called Trees for Troops.  Trees for Troops is a nationwide event, held during the holiday season, that provides real Christmas trees for service members and their families in New Jersey and throughout the world. Our local and surrounding communities were asked to donate money in order to help cover the cost of the trees that will be donated.  Wyckoff’s Tree Farm participates in Trees for Troops and BHS’s FFA raised over three thousand dollars and donated one hundred fifteen trees this year. The following video courtesy of WMBC-TV is the New Jersey Secretary of Agriculture opening the Cut Your Own Tree season at Wyckoff’s Tree Farm and interview with the FFA President, Matthew Duckworth.

Belvidere High School’s Drama Club presented their fall play, “Murder in the House of Horrors” on Friday, Nov. 20th and Saturday, Nov. 21st in the BHS auditorium. The cast and crew of thirty students, along with Director Stephanie Golda, kept the audience captivated with a whodunit murder mystery written by Billy St. John. The play begins with immediate action, plunging the audience into the Hamilton Museum's lecture on “Monsters, Murderers, and Madmen.” After a slightly befuddled start, Professor Dick Carlton, a renowned Egyptologist, tells of his discovery of the Pharaoh Menkaura's tomb. Suddenly, while watching a slide of the ruler's sarcophagus, the projector turns off, plunging the auditorium into darkness. When the lights are turned on, the professor is dead and the priceless jewel he was holding has vanished. The audience is now drawn into the mystery, both as witnesses and potential murderers. When Lt. Dan Morrow arrives, he narrows the suspects to seven. Was it the jealous wife? An angry benefactor? The exotic Egyptian who cursed the expedition? Congratulations to our drama club and Miss Golda for a play that “packed the house” and captivated all who attended.   Here is YouTube Trailer created by the Drama Club:
