We invite you to join the New Jersey Center for the Book in highlighting Women’s History Month and Read Across America for a free, virtual event featuring New Jersey children’s and adult author Jennifer Jones, the first African American Radio City Music Hall Rockette!

In 1987, Jones became first African American Rockette and has written the children's book "On the Line: My Story of Becoming the First African American Rockette" (2023) and her adult memoir "Becoming Spectacular: The Rhythm of Resilience from the First African American Rockette” (2025), both published by HarperCollins.

During the live event, Ms. Jones will read her children’s book and excerpts from her adult book. During the moderated Q&A session, participants will have the opportunity to ask Jones their own questions. Jones has also created the Limited-Edition Dancing Jenn Doll, symbolizing her journey and celebrating diversity.
