Student Activities

Oxford Street offers many activities to enrich its students and provide the opportunity to develop talents and skills.

Arts

Oxford Street  students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of performing arts activities that stress commitment and creativity.

  • Chorus

Oxford Street School has a chorus open to any interested student. Fourth, Fifth and Sixth grades are required to participate in the chorus as part of their music education. For Seventh and Eighth grade this is an elective. All chorus students will participate in the Winter Concert and Spring Concert.

  • Band

The program starts with 4th graders selecting the band instrument of their choice. Small group lessons are given from fourth through eighth grades. The bands rehearse once a week. There is a beginning band and an advanced band.  Students participate in the Winter Concert and Spring Concert.

  • Drama

Oxford Street School Theatre Arts is open to all grades. It is an opportunity to participate in a musical theatrical experience. During the three to four month rehearsal process, students enhance their performance skills. All students who enroll are able to participate in the production, either on stage or behind the scenes as stage managers or artists for scenery. Performers sing, learn simple dances, and use their voices, bodies, and imaginations to create a great experience for our audiences.
Traditionally, elementary students are invited to our final dress rehearsal to be our audiences and share the fun. This year's theatre arts program will be producing Alice in Wonderland, Jr.
Rehearsals generally run two – three afternoons a week for three months.
