Science

Our program provides an introduction to the specific areas that are fully explored through the 6th-8th grades. You can review the NJCCCS for science. Through out the course of the year we will cover

  • Weather
  • Water
  • Solar System
  • Life Science
  • Matter
  • Environmental Studies

We will culminate our studies with a trip to Stokes State Forest . Read about the forest and get ready for a fun time. You can learn more about the environment and the science topics we will cover by visiting these sites.

Environmental Kids Club - http://www.epa.gov/kids/
It's fun to learn about your environment! You can color in the Planet Protectors On-Line Coloring Book, play Recycle City, or hit the trail of the missing ozone

Exploring the Environment - http://www.cotf.edu/ete/
Learn about environmental issues such as ozone depletion, the endangerment of coral reefs, and wild land fires. Play games such as "Mars Landing".

Weather: What Forces Affect Our Weather? - http://www.learner.org/exhibits/weather/
Weather is dynamic, the product of interacting forces we are only beginning to understand. This exhibit explains the forces that cause our weather and how our climate is changing. Topics that are covered include, the atmosphere, the water cycle, storms, ice, snow, and forecasting. Online activities are provided

Views of the Solar System - http://www.solarviews.com/
"Views of the Solar System have been created as an educational tour of the solar system. It contains images and information about the Sun, planets, moons, asteroids, comets and meteoroids found within the solar system. It contains over 220 pages of information, over 950 high-resolution images and animations, and over 880 megabytes of data. This tour uses hypertext to allow space travel by simply clicking on a desired planet. This causes information and images about the planet to appear on screen. While on a planet page, hyperlinks travel to pages about the moons and other relevant available resources. Unusual terms are linked to and defined in the Glossary page. Statistical information of the planets and satellites can be browsed through sorted lists. The History of Space Exploration contains information about rocket history, early astronauts, space missions, spacecraft and detailed chronology tables of space exploration.

United States Geologic Survey
This site offers information on many aspects of water, along with pictures, data, maps, and an interactive center where you can give opinions and test your water knowledge
