Treasure Island - Robert Louis Stevenson

Napoli, Donna Jo:  Stones in Water (1997) When two Italian boys, Roberto and Samuele, sneak off to see a movie, they are rounded up by German soldiers and taken to a work camp in Munich. Samuele must conceal he is Jewish, while Roberto slowly transforms from a prisoner to a saboteur.

Zusak, Markus: The Book Thief  (2006)
Trying to make sense of the horrors of World War II, Death relates the story of Liesel--a young German girl whose book-stealing and story-telling talents help sustain her family and the Jewish man they are hiding, as well as their neighbors.

 

Non Fiction

Bartoletti Susan Campbell: Hitler Youth (2005)
By the time Hitler became Chancellor of Germany in 1933, 3. 5 million children belonged to the Hitler Youth. It would become the largest youth group in history. This book explores how Hitler gained the loyalty, trust, and passion of so many of Germany's young people. This book is well researched and includes telling interviews with surviving Hitler Youth members.

Frank, Anne   Diary of a Young Girl, the Definitive Edition (1995)
The diary of a young Danish Jew who hid with her family during the holocaust.  

Rochman, Hazel and Darlene Z. McCampbell: Bearing Witness : Stories of the Holocaust  (1995)
A series of narratives offers a multifaceted view of the Holocaust, from a child's bewilderment at having to wear a star and later go into hiding, to the agony of the camps themselves.
