Student Right and Responsibilities

Students have certain rights pertaining to their education and school environment. Commensurate with there rights are responsibilities for which students with be held accountable.

SCHOOL AT LARGE-   Students have the right to attend a school that is safe, clean and well maintained. Students have the responsibility to help make the school safe by walking quietly without running, pushing, yelling, or causing injury to others. Students also have the responsibility of conducting themselves appropriately at all times and showing respect for others, property, materials and equipment.

CLASSROOM – Students have the right to learn in a safe, supportive classroom environment. Students in turn must be prepared to cooperate with their teachers and follow rules, which have been outlined for them.

LUNCHROOM – Students have the right to eat lunch in a facility that is clean and provides a pleasant atmosphere. Students in turn must demonstrate appropriate eating manners and be respectful of fellow students and the adults supervising lunch periods.

LAVATORIES -   Students have the right to use lavatory facilities that are private, clean and well maintained. Students in turn must use the facilities in an appropriate manner and not soil, vandalize or litter and the lavatory areas.

HALLWAYS – Students have the right to feel safe as the move from one area of the building to another. Students in turn must be responsible in the corridors and walk quietly without running, pushing, yelling or causing injury to others.

TRAVELING TO AND FROM SCHOOL – Students have the right to feel safe and free from intimidation as they travel to and from school. Students have the responsibility to behave in a safe, respectful and considerate manner as they travel to and from school.

RECESS – Students have the right to enjoy safe play outdoors. Students in turn must follow rules and proper procedures on the playground to insure safety of all.
