Discipline Procedures
Administrative Procedures
All classroom teachers are versed in handling an array of discipline challenges. The individual teachers will make every attempt to manage classroom behavior at their level. If a situation occurs where a behavior problem escalates, students will be referred to an administrator.
The following course of action will prevail:
First Referral:
- Conference held with student and discipline record reviewed.
- Parent contact made by telephone and/or discipline report form.
- Detention(s) may be issued.
Second Referral:
All of the steps from the First Referral will be undertaken as well as
- Counselor intervention and/or peer mediation may be recommended depending upon the nature of infraction.
Third Referral:
- Conference held with student and discipline record reviewed.
- Parent contact made by telephone and/or the discipline report form.
- Detention(s), in-school for ISS or out of school suspension may be issued depending upon the nature of the infraction.
The following behaviors are considered to be zero-tolerance behaviors. These behaviors are unsafe and unacceptable for school. Violations of these behaviors can result in a level I, II, or III intervention dependent upon the severity and frequency of the incident.
Infractions
- Disregard for school and/or classroom rules
- Forgery
- Inappropriate Behavior (i.e., spitting, littering, etc.)
- Uncooperative Behavior with staff or substitutes
- Cheating
- Fighting of Physical Abuse
- Harassment/Verbal Abuse
- Insubordination
- Intimidation/Extortion
- Profanity
- Stealing
- Smoking on School Property
- Substance Abuse
- Vandalism/ Tampering with Property
- Possession of Weapons and/or facsimiles.
