From Karl S. Rice – “My heroes are the ones who survived doing it wrong, who made mistakes, but recovered from them.”……Bono

SCHOOL CLOSED – OCTOBER 12

TEACHER IN-SERVICE

Security at Oxford Street – Just a reminder -  the front door to Oxford Street School will remain locked.  For access you must buzz the office on the intercom on the door, identify yourself and reason for access.  The left door will be buzzed open for entrance to the office.  These measures have been made to insure safety of your children and our staff.

Belvidere School District Web Site – I hope you have taken a few minutes to check out our new web site.  It is a work in progress, but the layout is much friendlier than the old site.  We are trying to post all pertinent information so parents can be up-to-date on what is going on in the schools.  Don’t be afraid to check out the other buildings events, even if you do not have a child in that school.  You can also link with the entire calendar for all buildings – go to calendar and choose all buildings and it will give you the entire snapshot of activities.  There is also the link to athletics and general use of facilities of the district.  These are all valuable informational items for you.

National School Lunch Program – Lunch forms are done in a grey color in our building this year.  The applications have been distributed to all students.  If you have not received a confirmation letter that you will be receiving free or reduced lunches and you completed a form to apply, please check with the office to see if the form was received.

NJ ASK 4-8 Test Results – Copies of the NJ ASK 4-8 were sent home in September.

Please Review Calendar – Please review the district calendar when they are distributed the beginning of the school year.  It contains information in regard to our everyday policies, such as attendance, discipline, dress code, etc.  The district calendar should be posted on the district web page or should be posted shortly.  The calendar will be updated monthly on our web site also.

Mid-Marking Period – Can you believe October 9 is the middle of Marking Period #1?  Interim reports will be sent home October 16.

Lifetouch Pictures  - All students will have their pictures taken on Thursday, October 15 for their ID badges.  This is mandatory.  You do not have to purchase any pictures to receive the ID badge.  However, if you want to purchase a picture package, you must have a check or cash on that day.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the office.  Information will be going out to all students on October 2.  Be on the lookout for the information in your child’s backpack.

Student Attire – Please see page 29 of the new Belvidere School District Calendar for 2009-10 for general guidelines.  Also, as fall approaches, please encourage your children to dress for warmth with layers as we go into the heating season.  We all need to focus on saving energy.  Thank you.

Elementary Theatre Arts – Theatre Arts is back!  Look for upcoming audition dates and schedules in our next newsletter!

Mrs. Kane’s Class Poem

Frankenstein

By Daniel Wilkerson

His stretched out skin and bright glowing eyes

Are sure to send waves of fear through al girls and guys.

His super human strength and menacing mind

Makes this 8 foot monster one of a kind.

He tries to be normal but humans think different

They beat him with sticks hoping to kill him.

He lives on his own completely alone

Knowing revenge is now soon to come.
