Highlights for 2007 PSAT Test
Test Date: October 20, 2007 Priority Deadline for Registration: October 5, 2007 Late Registration: Late registrations will be taken on a first-come, first serve basis if tests are still available Time: Arrive to BHS at 7:45 a.m. The test will last approximately three hours. Room assignments will be posted on the front door of the school. Test Day: Students are encouraged to bring their own calculators due to familiarity. However, any students without calculators will be supplied with one. Students are encouraged, but not required to bring photo ID and their test receipt. Test fee: The cost of the test is $20.00. Please make checks payable to BHS. (Fee waivers are available for students who qualify for the free or reduced lunch program. Students should notify the guidance office at the time of registration) Score Return: Test scores will be received in district by December 2007. Students will be invited to attend a score interpretation session and will receive a copy of their test results along with their original test booklet. ____________________________________________________________________________________________ The PSAT/NMSQT measures critical thinking skills that are important for success in college, including critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT enables students to: Ø Get feedback about critical academic skills Ø Seek information from colleges Ø Enter scholarship competitions Ø Practice for the SAT reasoning test NMSC Scholarship Programs
The PSAT/NMSQT I the qualifying test that students must take to enter National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) competitions for college scholarships that will be awarded. Students who meet published participation requirements, which include taking the PSAT>NMSQT in the specified year of their high school program (usually the junior year), will enter NMSC competitions for recognition and awards.
