What is meant by the term Human Ecology? It is the total interaction of the human being with his or her environment. The curriculum is designed for all students, male and female, so that they can gain the knowledge necessary to utilize all human resources to their greatest potential. Our program currently offers two areas of concentration for students interested in this field of study. Both of these areas of study are designed to give the student the opportunity to apply class room learning to real world applications. Please review the curriculum guides for detailed descriptions of the courses.
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION
- Life – Prenatal to 6 ½ years
- Early Childhood Practicum
The practicum is a site base preschool program that is taught by high school students. The students initially learn how to plan, organize and facilitate a preschool program. The students then open two preschool programs to the community.
- 3 year olds
- 4&5 year olds.
The schedule is developed by the students in late January and early February. This is a hands on program that allows students to gain enough practical experience to enter the work force as a preschool aide or to further their education in the field of early childhood education.
Members of the community, who would like to enroll their children in the preschool, are invited to call the Department of Human Ecology @ 475-4025 ext. 6654 in early February for registration information.
