Chorus-#814 - meets every day all year-5 credits; Chorus is designed to enable the student to apply the vocal techniques of singing to public performances and to provide a solid foundation in more advanced stages of vocal development, such as soloist. Chorus involves the study of proper singing habits, and the production of good tone quality. This course may be repeated for credit on a space available basis. Students will be required to sing alone and/or in a group. Students may audition for Scarlet Choir and/or Madrigals, both extra-curricular activities. Students perform at the holiday and spring concerts and other concerts as needed. Concert Band-#811 - meets every day all year-5 credits; Concert Band studies appropriate concert band music and presents concerts throughout the year. Concert Band is open to students who play percussion, woodwind or brass instruments. The band program is designed to achieve developmental goals for each student in the program. The goals include the development of ensemble performance and the development of instrumental proficiency. Many students in Concert Band join Marching Band and some are selected to be members of the Jazz Band, both extra-curricular activities. Students perform at the holiday and spring concerts and other concerts as needed. Instrumental Lab-#816 - Meets 3 times a week all year-3 credits. Instrumental Lab #819 - Meets 3 times a week for half the year-1.5 credits. Instrumental Lab covers the basic playing and performance areas of various composer with particular emphasis on guitar-acoustic, electric and bass, along with keyboard and percussion. This course is designed for students who play or are learning to play an instrument that does not normally play concert band repertoire. Students will gain a better understanding and awareness of the cultured aspect of music and at the same time develops their own musical talent. Students in this course perform with the Trans-Belvederian Ensemble, which presents concerts throughout the year. Students perform at the holiday and spring concerts and other concerts as needed. |
