Acceptable Use Policy

For Computers

1. Computers in this classroom are to be used as an educational tool. They may be used as part of a class assignment during class sessions (including breaks during lab activities). Use during a study period will be limited to prior arrangement with the instructor. The priority will always be use for the class in session. The computers are not to be used when a student is scheduled for another class.

2. Always log on and off. Work should be saved to your personal folder before exiting a program.

3. Print outs are limited to class assignments on class time. Print outs of other school assignments will be limited to emergencies and further limited by the availability of the computers and printers. Physics lab groups are to print out only one copy of a graph or chart. The instructor will photocopy additional graphs or charts.

4. Email is to be used only while working on assignments or sending and receiving assignments. No checking of personal messages.

5. Internet access is provided for educational purposes. Searches conducted during class time are limited to class assignments. Searches for other school projects may be done, with permission of the instructor, during a study period or after school with prior arrangements. Priority for Internet use will always be given to the class in session.

6. Due to the possibility of changes in the computer system or unforeseen problems that may occur during the school year, the instructor reserves the right to modify these policies and/or provide additional policies. Any changes will be provided in writing to all students.

Note: All school policy with respect to computer use is also in effect.

7. Failure to abide by these rules will result in the following penalties:

A. First Offense - Verbal warning and loss of class computer privileges for one week.

B. Second offense - Written description of the offense, along with a copy of this sheet, will be sent to parents and the loss of class computer privileges will be increased to one month.

C. Third offense - Loss of class computer privileges and referral for school discipline.

D. Once class computer privileges have been lost, only after school use of the computers will be allowed with the direct supervision of the instructor.
