Course Summary
Chemistry is a laboratory course that covers the structure of matter and the periodicity of elements. Laboratory safety, metric measurements and calculation skills are stressed. Qualitative and quantitative experiments will be performed on a regular basis. Students will learn and use chemical symbols to write formulas and chemical equations. The factor/label method of calculation will be used for mole conversions and to solve problems in stoichiometry. Calculations will also be performed using gas laws and to determine solution concentrations. Grading will be based on homework, class work, lab reports and tests.Honors chemistry assumes a strong math background and will include more in-depth discussion of topics. More student work will be on an independent basis, with more formal lab reports and less in-class practice. Grading will be based on lab reports and tests.
Proficiency for the Honors Chemistry.
Proficiency for College Prep Chemistry.
