College Chemistry CL (college level)
Course Length: 36 weeks (September 6 to approx. June 14)
Periods per week: 7 (42 minute periods)
Grade level: 12
Prerequisites: CP Chemistry Accelerated or Teacher Recommendation
Overview: The course emphasizes the fundamental laws and theories of chemistry including: metric system, significant digits, matter, atomic structure, chemical bonding, periodic table, chemical reactions and equations including stoichiometry and oxidation/reduction, gases, and solutions. Scientific notation, the use of conversion factors and problem solving are also stressed. Laboratory exercises are designed to reinforce and enhance the subject matter covered in the lecture. Students who successfully complete this course will receive academic credit from Warren County Community College commensurate with the college-based course.
