Isaac Newton was born in 1642. His mother wanted him to become a farmer, but his uncle uncovered his scholarly talents. Isaac attended Trinity College in Cambridge. When he was in his mid twenties, he invented the reflecting telescope, which is the building block of all telescopes today. He then invented calculus an important part of mathematics, and which is used in science. He then helped clarify the three laws of motion. In addition he developed the law of universal gravitation. He discovered that the force that keeps us on earth is the same force that allows the planets to orbit the sun. He correctly hypothesized the idea that gravity is throughout the universe. Isaac Newton was instrumental in the development of the science community that we have today. He was named Lucasian Professor of Mathematics at Cambridge University. Isaac Newton died in 1727.
