 Farewell

        A yellow sun sets over the horizon, the last one I shall ever see in this place. Standing in the ocean water, I can taste the future even before I set out to reach it.

        Floating in the water in front of me is a boat. I have been working on this boat since the beginning of the year, and many items adorn its sides, all representative of the things I have accomplished these last few years of my life. Looking down the shoreline, others are preparing theirs as well. Yet each one is different, unique in its own right, and some have been built better than others. Then again, some of us might also be sailing on harsher seas....

   Finally Finals!

        As the end of the school year rolls around, finals come with it. Like midterms, finals happen during a period of one week. Similar to the SATs, finals are stressful and exhausting. Thankfully, this year the week of finals is full of half days. Half days continue until twelve so that when kids go home, they have more time to study for the next day’s exams. The information on finals for most classes is on the second half of the year, or in other words, the third and fourth marking periods. Midterms cover the first half of the year, hence the name....

   High School Thespians Unite

        Belvidere High School put on the musical Fiddler on the Roof in March, but the excitement still hasn’t died down!  After the three Fiddler performances were complete, the production’s participants eagerly looked forward to May 13, the day the nominees of the Freddy Awards were to be announced.  At 12:00, Fiddler’s actors, stage crew members, and instructors came together again in Mr. Riday’s room to watch the nominations on WFMZ....
