                     Friday, April 23 2010

Everyone at BHS has taken another language at some point during their high school years.  Have you ever wondered what it would be like to become fluent in a language and live in the country where it is spoken?  Suzanne Chevrel got to do just that!  Maybe you got to know Suzanne, an exchange student from France, while she was here in Belvidere for a month....

Softball

      by Coleen Carney
                     Monday, May 3 2010

The 2010 Belvidere High school Softball season started in the beginning of March, and girls came into the season optimistic and willing to try their hardest. For their efforts, many were rewarded. Some girls were cut, but they kept good attitudes through it all and most are determined to try out next year. In the end, there were a total of about 50 girls in the softball program....

Fiddler on the Roof

   A Farewell to Fiddler

      by David Yanarella
                     Thursday, May 6 2010

As many of you may know, Belvidere High School’s theater department put on a performance of the musical Fiddler on the Roof in March. Audiences who attended any of the three shows saw amazing performances, but they did not see the largest part of the group’s effort: what was done behind the scenes....

Editor's Corner

 The Past Is Calling

  by Justin Kiefer
                  Sunday, May 16 2010

If you haven’t heard by now, I was recently nominated for a Freddy Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role” for my role as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof. I must say this is quite an honor; out of over twenty schools that participate in the Freddy Awards, I was one of seven nominees chosen for this category....

Spring

     by Jessica Wasser
     Thursday, May 6 2010

It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.
-- E.E. Cummings

Spring can be felt in the air. Students have a whole new look about them. They have a bounce to each step and smiles back on their faces. The energy of the students seems to be almost contagious. The juniors are morphing into seniors; their maturity is suddenly shinning through. Even the freshmen have changed in both attitudes and appearance. However, nowhere can the change be more apparent than in the senior class....

EMT

   Heroes Seemingly Start Young

     by Natasha Kowaleuski
                     Sunday, May 16 2010

As you walk down the halls you may have noticed the increasing amount of students who are wearing 46 rescue shirts or any kind of firefighting shirt? Its something I have noticed as a student of BHS. This may not be new news to me but it is to some other people. This increase in firefighting t-shirts are because recently Warren County is testing the next batch of firefighters and EMT’s (emergency medical technicians). This is not an easy task to complete and it is something I am quite aware of myself....

WHAM

     by David Yannarella
                     Thursday, May 6 2010

On March 16th, Belvidere students who are members of Extended Learners had the opportunity to participate in W.H.A.M. W.H.A.M. is an abbreviation for the Warren-Hunterdon Academic Meet, which is held semi-annually, once in winter and once in spring. It is a competition in which students answer questions from a myriad of topics, from music theory to ancient history. The competition consists of three preliminary rounds, and then one final round between the two teams with the highest scores....
