Workouts in the Sun
by Alison BancroftSunday, April 4 2010
Hey,
BHS students! Spring has sprung, and so
have plenty of new opportunities! Not
playing a spring sport this year? Looking for a way to stay in shape for the
fall? Interested in a Belvidere track
team? Then, Belvidere High School’s
running club is perfect for you! Advised
by Mr. Owens, the club meets to run after school every Monday, Wednesday, and
Thursday. Running club is a great way to
hang out with your friends and stay in shape at the same time!
The
club is open to all students at BHS, whether you play a sport or not. You don’t need to sign up to be in running
club, either. Anyone is welcome to come
run, and runners may participate in the runs whenever they are interested. Bring your friends! Currently, the club members are running the
breakfast loop or twenty to twenty-five minute runs around town on the days the
group meets after school. If you are out of shape, it’s a good way to get back
into exercising again. Everyone runs at
a different pace, so all students will have someone to run with. Many cross-country runners and other fall
athletes participate in the club to keep running and stay in shape for next
year’s season.
Are
you a competitive runner? Do you like to
run for time? If so, the club has
opportunities for you! The group is
hoping to get its own t-shirts for its participants and is looking into running
in a local race as a group. Belvidere
High School is also looking into possibly getting its own track team for the
future. If you’re interested in it, show
your support by running with the club!
All are welcome, so if you’re looking for something to do after school,
feel free to join us! Just come to Mr.
Owens’s room (room 223) after school on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday with a
bottle of water and ready for a run!
