 Time

Time. Time is the ultimate enemy of man. For it is time that we always have so much of, but so little.

They say to keep your friends close, and your enemies closer. We keep time very close indeed. It is on the walls of our homes, the corner of our computer screens, the dashboard of our automobiles, our cell phones, and even our portable music players. Some people even keep time on their wrists....

   Midterm Mayhem

     by Coleen Carney
                     Friday, February 5 2010

There comes a week when every kid in high school takes some of the biggest tests of their careers. Midterm week is the week nearly every high school student gets worked up and stressed out about.  Freshmen come into high school thinking about the terrible things that they think will happen to them.  They hear about bullies, gym class and midterms.  However, the truth is that there aren’t many bullies, gym class isn’t all that bad and as long as a person studies, midterms are a breeze. On January 28th and 29th and again on February 1st and 2nd, all of Belvidere High School took midterms....

     by Carley Schumann
                     Sunday, February 7 2010

Friday, January 22 was Belvidere High School's annual Snowball. The night started as everyone found their tables with their friends or their dates. Pictures were being taken left and right and everyone there looked amazing. The DJ began to call tables up to get their dinners with a selection of green beans, carrots, baked ziti, lemon chicken and mashed potatoes. Once all the tables were called, the song Build Me Up Buttercup got everyone into motion as students crowded the dance floor....

Looking at Belvidere High School, you probably wouldn’t think there to be anything special about it. However, Belvidere is home to one of the most interesting and original musical ensembles in New Jersey, if not the entire Northeast. Its name? The Trans-Belviderian Ensemble....

Martin Luther King Jr. was a noble man whose goal in life was to create peace between races in America during the 1950s. He was born on January 15, 1929 and his original name was Michael, but he changed it later on in his life. His family passed on the tradition of being the pastor at Ebenezar Baptist Church. After high school, he went off to Morehouse College where his grandfather and father graduated from. He studied at a theological seminary, which educates men and women in the Christian religion.                     Wednesday, February 10 2010

The holiday insanity brought upon a time that made it impossible to read any novels in their entirety, and thus there was a short break from the Reader’s Nook. However, that break is not long lived, for this month brings new books and some brilliant news....

Haiti

  Hope Among Devastation in Haiti

    by Rebecca Carney
                    Thursday, February 11 2010
On Tuesday, January 12 2010 a natural disaster hit one of the world’s most underprivileged countries.  An earthquake, measuring a 7.0 on the scale, struck Haiti at five in the afternoon.  For thirteen seconds, disaster and chaos rippled through the land.  Haiti’s capital, Port-au-Prince, was completely destroyed.  Buildings were literally in half while homes crumbled under the quake.  Many were shocked by the largest earthquake to hit the area in over 200 years.  This devastating catastrophe left hundreds of thousands of people dead in less than a minute....
