Busy
by Justin KieferWednesday, March 17 2010
Busy
would be a good way to describe the last few months for me. Indeed, quite a bit
has been going on in my life, whether it were the musical (which, might I add,
was a roaring success), the school paper, or my schoolwork in general.
That
being said, I wasn’t able to get the latest issue of the paper to the masses in
time. But fear not, for it is here at last! Our staff is very committed to
writing articles, and I would like to personally apologize to them for not
getting it up sooner.
While
there’s so much I personally wanted to talk about, there really was no
way to
fit it in. I had intended to write an article detailing my overnight
visit to
the University of Scranton (hence the theme and pictures), but I
couldn’t get
the experience to come out on paper the way I wanted to. Instead, I
have written an article about a thought that has recently occurred to
me concerning time (how fitting).
You’ll
also notice that many of these articles date back to February (the intended
release of this issue). Please keep in mind that this is a new issue as of mid-March, and that its release was merely delayed.
Nevertheless,
you’ll find no end to variety in this issue. Alison Bancroft gives you the
lowdown on Fiddler on the Roof, a
show that I personally took part in as the character Tevye. Coleen Carney talks
about midterms and the effect they have on students. Her sister, Rebecca Carney,
speaks to us about the situation in Haiti and how each of us can help those in
need. Carley Schuman and David Yannarella talk to us about the Snowball Dance
and the Trans-Belviderian Ensemble, respectfully. Lauren Collom did some
research on Martin Luther King Jr. to share with all of us, and Natasha Kowaleuski
has three new novels for us to feast our eyes (and brains) upon.
It
is difficult to realize the passage of time when one is so busy. If there’s one
thing I’ve learned from my experiences so far, it’s that the only way to finish
a task is to actually finish it (no,
that’s not a typo). We have no choice but to press forward and handle each challenge
put in front of us as they arise. As they say, there’s no time like the
present.
