SAAD

SADD Night and What the Future Holds for       SADD

                   by Natasha Kowaleuski
                   Sunday, January 10 2010
SADD is one of the older clubs that Belvidere High School has to offer the student population. However, the ideals have seemed to have fallen through the cracks while the idea of SADD Night has bloomed. Most students know of SADD Night because it has become a biannual tradition, yet the reason as to why it’s held has been left to the wayside....

  by Justin Kiefer
                  Monday, January 18 2010

Last Friday, I had the pleasure of attending STAND’s “Open-Mic Night,” a talent show of sorts that raised money for the cause of genocide prevention. There were many familiar faces on the stage, along with some others you may not have been expecting to see (or hear)....

On December 21, 2009, the Belvidere High School Student Government went caroling at the Care Center of Lopatcong.  Most elected seniors and a few juniors attended the field trip in the hopes of cheering up the lives of the elderly.  I was one of the lucky ones to attend this joyous event....

   by Jessica Wasser
                   Wednesday, January 6 2010
Tuesday, January 5th was the kick off of the 2010 Special Olympics, and it started with a bang! This year these very special students are enthused to be not only competing at the Special Olympics in the spring, but also in a bowling tournament. One delightfully special thing about Belvidere staff and students is the amount of time, care and love they show these children....

Basketball

     by Coleen Carney
                     Thursday, January 7 2010

December is the end of fall sports but the beginning of Belvidere High School’s winter sports program.  The sports this year include boys and girls basketball of all levels (freshmen, junior varsity, and varsity), wrestling and swimming. As a high school, Belvidere is very competitive in the athletics program. All of the coaches are getting the kids into shape and the kids are working hard to achieve their physical goals. In order to do this, they need good equipment, encouraging coaches and a mind set on only one thing: practice....

     by David Yannarella
                     Thursday, January 7 2010

If you have attended an instrumental concert put on by Belvidere High School, it is most likely that you have heard of Belvidere’s Jazz Band. Time after time during the winter season, Jazz Band performed at a level exceeding expectations. They were called on myriad times throughout the month of December, even performing three times in a span of four days. They are the premier instrumental ensemble at Belvidere High School....

     by Alison Bancroft
                     Thursday, January 7 2010

In the month of December, Christmas was in the air at Belvidere.  Students gave away candy canes to their friends, traded presents, and sang and played instruments in the holiday concerts.  Some even had their pictures taken with Mr. Gast as Santa!  Belvidere’s Leo Club, advised by Mrs. Judy Black, got into the Christmas spirit by hosting a Christmas party for children with disabilities and their families....
